Mentoring
What is Safety Mentoring?
A safety mentor is an experienced person having a strong professional knowledge base, who helps and guides others in this field. Safety is a huge area of study, including many specialised areas, requiring a lot of understanding of work health and safety laws, organisational relationships, and other often sensitive issues.
The mentor provides practical advice and insights into the complex and frequently very demanding safety field. Ongoing development is managed through the mentoring activity by:
- Sharing knowledge and insights
- Offering guidance and constructive feedback
- Providing depth of experience to issues
Mentoring methods and practices may vary considerably, depending on levels of safety knowledge and specific situations. Mentoring provides confidence, skills, and invaluable professional perspectives, helping clients to be knowledgeable in delivering effective and positive outcomes and solutions in any safety environment.
