Operational verification activities
Background
A large organisation with diverse organisational activity across multiple sites had reviewed and updated its OHS management system. The organisation had determined that it needed to assess the level of implementation achieved within a twelve month period.
Problem
The organisation did not have the necessary resources to conduct operational verification activities within the defined review timeframe. The organisation also determined that it would be preferable for verification to be conducted by an external party to ensure that a level of independence was able to be demonstrated from OHS staff conducting implementation.
Solution
Our solution was to develop a verification tool which included deliverable criteria arising from the organisation's OHS management system and operational procedures.
With our extensive experience and knowledge in system and process implementation, we were able to identify and deliver operational verification activity in a structured and cohesive manner across the diverse and geographically dispersed businesses
A plan was developed, based on sampling methodology and risk management prioritisation strategies, to provide the most cost effective means to evaluate implementation capacity.
Result
Our comprehensive operational verification activity evaluation provided a strategic assessment from which the organisation could identify and prioritise opportunities for further improvement.
Outcomes of the activities conducted also provided an insight into the quality of developed documentation which was able to be used in further review to build more robust and applicable procedural requirements to better reflect organisational activity.
