Self Insurance - Annual Return
Background
A large self insurer in the local government sector was required to submit its annual return on OHS performance in accordance with self-insurance licence conditions. The annual return is used by the regulator, who issues the self-insurance licence, to measure compliance activities and conformance arrangements as assessed by the self insurer.
Problem
The self insurer had only recently developed and implemented an improved OHS management system to meet organisational and regulator requirements. Internal focus in the organisation was concentrated on implementation programmes to meet timelines determined by the senior executive.
The organisation was resource constrained and required assistance in meeting annual return requirements.
Solution
Our solution was to provide a comprehensive analysis of activities conducted within the preceding 12 month period and complete the OHS performance component of the self insurer annual return.
We used our extensive knowledge and experience in regulatory requirements relating to self-insurance licence conditions to evaluate and review activities and performance indicators to strategically facilitate the completion of all evaluation criteria required to be provided.
Result
Our comprehensive approach in managinga strategic evaluation of OHS management performance ensured that the client was able to meet self-insurance licence reporting conditions within the regulator defined timeframe.
The expediency by which we delivered this outcome enabled the organisation to maintain its focus on ensuring that prioritised implementation of OHS management system programs was able to be maintained and organisational outcomes achieved.
